We can’t believe it’s already October! The days are getting shorter and we know exactly what to read, but what are we missing? Yes, a creative outlet! No worries, October means it’s time for Inktober. Grab your art supplies and let’s create something awesome.
First thing first… what is the history behind Inktober? Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.
Every day for the month of October anyone participating in the Inktober challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online. Remember to use the hashtags #inktober and #inktober2021 if you want your art to be seen by everyone.
1. Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2. Post it online or somewhere else where you can share your art with someone.
3. Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2021.
Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. It doesn’t matter what you decide, just be consistent. Inktober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better. Oh, and don’t forget to have fun!
Inktober is not a contest. It’s a personal challenge to make time to learn new things, draw daily and have fun with your art. You don’t need to be the best artist to set this challenge for yourself. It’s a challenge to see how much you can improve your art in a month, and be inspired or help inspire other artists to do the same.
Since 2016 Jake started making official prompt lists, so you have an idea of what you could draw every day. How fun is it going to be to see all those different drawing styles with the same subject? Check this page out to get more information on Inktober. We can’t wait to see all your creations.
No inspiration or maybe you don’t have the headspace to create something from scratch? We get that. Some days our heads are overflowed with information and after those long days, we just want to color. That’s why we added coloring pages in our printable shop. Free of charge of course!
Let’s have some fun with art and create something cool, awesome, or whatever you want it to be!
